Rent-to-own News - TARA wraps convention with trade show
The Texas Association of Rental Agencies wrapped its 27th annual convention with an info-packed membership meeting featuring key industry speakers followed by a buying show where dozens of exhibitors met face to face with rental dealers to discuss new products and programs.
Rental Dealers from across Texas are in Dallas for The Texas Association of Rental Agencies' 27th Annual Convention and Southwest Buying Show -- a two day event featuring networking events, state and national legislative updates and a trade show featuring top industry exhibitors.
APRO Executive Director Bill Keese kicked off TARA's morning meeting with a discussion of regulatory efforts in Congress, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and how it affects the rent to own industry.
Ed Winn, APRO legal counsel and longtime RTO legal expert, updated members on the legal issues currently facing Texas dealers, including collection issues, bedbugs, automatic shut-off devices, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, new anti-RTO initiatives around the country, and other RTO related matters.
Steve Moore with Jackson Walker, LLP addressed Texas' Margin Tax, its impacts on RTO dealers and TARA's efforts to deal with the issue.
The Southwest Buying Show floor opened at 11:30 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.
