Rent-to-own News - Carlos Reyna Fund nears $17,000

February 11, 2011

Rent-n-Roll President Larry Sutton today announced close to $14,000 has been transferred to a holding account for the Carlos Reyna family. Reyna, a Houston Rent-n-Roll manager, is recovering from two severe heart attacks and a stroke suffered in lat last year. When combined with other industry donations the grand total comes to $16,922.75.

Sutton notes that, as Reyna will face a long-term rehabilitation to regain basic functioning, any funds that come in after the initial transfer will immediately be deposited into the family account in Texas.

"Together, we are making a difference for this family of a fallen brother and I cannot tell how proud I am to be a part of it," Sutton said.  "God Bless everyone of you who stepped up to help make a difference for this family. I would like to especially thank Ron Russell from  RNR Virginia who called me right after he heard about this and prompted me to get this going and also committed $500 to start the fund."

To donate to the Carlos Reyna Family, make checks payable to Sovoni, Inc. -- a temporary fund set up for the drive -- and write Carlos Reyna Fund in the memo. Mail to:

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
