Rent-to-own News - Maine Team Opens 3rd Store in Sanford

May 4, 2011

An aggressive goal and persistence are the two ingredients which allowed the dynamic team of Jim Ratner and John Reichenbach to open their third Premier Rental-Purchase in just four years.

Jim and John come from different rent-to-own backgrounds.  They actually met at The 2007 Premier Dealer Convention in Miami after they each lost their own partners.  It wasn’t quite love at first sight but the two met and talked for three days about a partnership plan. Their communications continued by phone with John living in Georgia and Jim living in Maine.

They’ve worked together ever since!

John decided to move to Maine while they opened their first store in 2007. “I am the operations guy between the two of us while Jim handles the marketing, bill pay and payroll” says John. “Our plan right from the beginning was to open as many stores as quick as we can. That’s what keeps us motivated and on track with our aggressive goals.”

Jim and John have three terrific managers of their stores who have been with them over the past several years.  The Sanford grand opening celebration will take place in July.

The national office of The Premier Companies is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Premier Brands consist of Premier Rental-Purchase, Premier Home Furnishings, Premier Wheel Workz, Premier Auto by Rent.

All Premier stores are independently owned and operated. Visit Premier’s website at www.premierrents.net or call 800/2-Premier and ask for Trooper Earle.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
