Rent-to-own News - ColorTyme rent-to-own franchise debuts in Houston

May 17, 2011

ColorTyme, a widely known and trusted brand for more than 30 years, has opened a store in Houston thanks to two local residents. Owners Mike Do and David Rogers recently introduced their first of what they hope to be many locally owned-and-operated rent-to-own franchises in the area.

“We’re proud to meet the needs of people in our hometown and bring a superior rent-to-own experience to Houston. People here deserve the best, and that’s what they get when they walk into ColorTyme,” said Do. “We’re happy to provide a more personalized, customer-focused renting option to the area, and we hope to open several ColorTyme stores over the next few years for everyone to enjoy.”

The new store offers low prices on rent-to-own items for the home including appliances, furniture and electronics. ColorTyme offers customers flexible payment options to get the name-brand products they desire without a credit check. In addition, service, delivery and set-up are included at no extra charge.

Do and Rogers are confident that opening ColorTyme was the best choice for customers and for themselves.

“We wanted to invest in something that would benefit our friends, neighbors and all the good people in Houston. We are eager to get to know our customers and be a positive part of their lives,” said Rogers. “As far as franchising goes, we feel ColorTyme is the best opportunity in rent-to-own. They offer the best inventory purchasing program and financing system of any rent-to-own franchise around, and we’re impressed with the level of support we get every step of the way.”

The new ColorTyme is located at 1808 Wirt Road. The store is planning to hold a large grand opening event in the near future.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
