Rent-to-own News - Franchisees open second ColorTyme in Houston

August 15, 2011

Just three months after opening their first rent-to-own store, owners Mike Do and David Rogers have added another ColorTyme to the Houston area. The new location will offer rent-to-own appliances, electronics and furniture to residents in the city’s southwest region.

“We are thrilled to open another ColorTyme in Houston. After the successful opening of our store on 1808 Wirt Road, we wanted to extend the savings and specials to more customers across town,” said Do. “Houston is a large city, so it just made sense to open another location. Now more people who have heard about our great products and prices can enjoy having a ColorTyme close by.”

Like all ColorTyme stores, the new Houston location offers a variety of convenient payment plans without a credit check. The owners and staff intend to give residents a unique rental experience by creating a hometown atmosphere with superior customer service.

“We encourage everyone to stop in to see us at our new location and experience the hometown rent-to-own difference,” said Rogers. “Unlike large, corporate-owned chains, at ColorTyme, we create meaningful relationships with customers. Our customers can count on personalized service and attention with prices they can’t find anywhere else.”

The new store is located at 5716 Bellaire Blvd. The store plans to host a Grand Opening event on Saturday, Oct. 1st.

ColorTyme, Inc., founded in 1979, is America’s oldest franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores. ColorTyme franchisees operate 191 rent-to-own stores in 32 states, and the company’s custom-wheels-and-tires franchise brand, RimTyme, operates 20 stores in 11 states. ColorTyme is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of the largest RTO company in the world, Rent-A-Center.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
