Rent-to-own News - Nationwide introduces new private electronics label

September 2, 2011

Nationwide Marketing Group (NMG) introduced its new private label electronics brand, Allegra, at the PrimeTime! buying show and strategic member conference in the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Dallas, Texas last week.

“An entry level private label brand that can’t be shopped through big box retailers will give our dealers a tremendous competitive advantage in their markets,” said Mike Decker, Senior Vice President of Electronics Marketing for NMG.

Jimmy Davlouros, Vice President of Eternal Asia Supply Chain Management (USA) Corp of North America – parent company of Allegra - and former Executive Vice President of Samsung, was at PrimeTime! supporting the new electronics line.

According to Davlouros, Decker and his team at Nationwide worked closely with the new private label to ensure their products are the best in quality and features.

“The television line totes a super slim design, backend and side ports as well as a single universal remote control,” said Davlouros.

Outside of LCD and LED televisions, the new Allegra line also includes gaming devices, android tablets and connectible tables.

“The gaming devices alone are a huge draw for consumers and provide a very large opportunity for profitability with the potential of gross profits that could easily exceed 50%,” said Davlouros.

Davlouros continued, “Nationwide is no longer competing with Best Buy or Wal-Mart with the introduction of this unique, authentic imported line of consumer electronics products and because we are their ODM, Allegra will be readily available at a lower cost with no hard nose commitments or volume requirements.”

“The reception Allegra received at PrimeTime! was wonderful and our dealers are looking forward to reaping the benefits of their very own line,” said Decker.

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
