Rent-to-own News - Franchisees Jeff and Jill Tepper open third ColorTyme in Virginia

September 30, 2011

With success from their Lynchburg and Danville locations, Jeff and Jill Tepper recently opened the doors to their latest ColorTyme store in South Boston, Va. The new store offers a wide selection of appliances, furniture, computers and other electronics while promising customers the best rent-to-own experience in Halifax County.

“We are so excited to be able to serve people in our hometown of South Boston and give them a superior option in rent-to-own,” said Jeff Tepper. “Our customers are like family to us, and they deserve the best. That’s why we make sure they always get the best when they walk into ColorTyme.”

ColorTyme franchisees for 10 years, the Teppers are proud to extend customer-centered benefits in the new store including no credit checks, affordable pricing, and flexible payment options like weekly, biweekly and monthly plans. In addition, delivery and service are always included at no extra charge – just a few of the many advantages to doing business with a locally owned rent-to-own store.

“Because we are not corporately owned like other rent-to-own stores in South Boston, we are able to get specially requested items for our customers when they need them,” said Jill Tepper. “We are happy to fill individual orders and give customers a more personalized renting experience.”

“We stand behind our products and provide service that is above the competition,” Jeff said. “If something is not working properly, we will fix the problem within 24 hours. If we are unable to fix it, then we will provide a loaner item until the customer’s specific product is back up and running. This outstanding customer service sets us apart from our competition.”

The new ColorTyme is located at 2203 Wilborn Ave. in Hupps Mill Plaza. The store will plan a grand opening event in the next few weeks.

ColorTyme, Inc., founded in 1979, is America’s oldest franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores. ColorTyme franchisees operate 193 rent-to-own stores in 33 states, and the company’s custom-wheels-and-tires franchise brand, RimTyme, operates 20 stores in 11 states. ColorTyme is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of the largest RTO company in the world, Rent-A-Center.

A New Rent-to-Own Experience

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
