Rent-to-own News - TRIB Group convention kicks off in less than two weeks

February 15, 2012

The 2012 TRIB Group Annual Convention & Buy Fair begins in less than two weeks, February 27-29, 2012 at the beautiful Marriott World Center in Orlando, Florida. A vast majority of the 153 members will be attending representing 31 states and the Caribbean islands.

This year’s theme urges members and vendors alike to ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL GOALS of the rent to own industry. The convention kicks off bright and early on Monday morning with the 2012 Tom C. Kitchens Annual Golf Outing, sponsored by Whirlpool and open to all TRIB Group members and vendors. This year’s golf outing will be a fundraiser for APRO’s Scholarship Foundation.

Monday’s activities will also include a vendor meeting and the ever-popular, often-imitated, HOT SHOW.

With exceptional deals and pricing, this is a must-attend event. The action is fast, exciting and rewarding for those serious about saving money. Following the HOTSHOW is a fantastic Welcome Reception for all the attendees.

Tuesday begins with a membership meeting where dealers will receive their much anticipated 2011 rebate checks, followed by the opening of the buy fair. Tuesday’s events will also include lunch and a cocktail reception on the buy fair floor as well as the election of three TRIB Group Board of Director seats.

Wednesday includes another membership meeting, followed by the balance of the day on the buy fair floor completing orders and turning in purchase orders for the Group’s $20,000 grand prize drawing.

On the final night of the convention, all members and vendors will be shuttled to SeaWorld Orlando for the exciting Closing Celebration. The evening will include a cocktail reception, stilt walkers, appearances by dolphins, penguins and exotic birds as well as a private and exclusive Caribbean-themed buffet dinner and access to the park’s Manta Dual water roller coaster.

The Rental Industry Buying Group (TRIB Group) was established in 1983 and is currently the largest owner/member buying cooperative in the nation specifically for the RTO industry.  TRIB Group’s membership is currently 153 member companies representing nearly 3,500 storefronts nationwide and is proud to be a strategic alliance partner with AVB/Brand Source.

A New Rent-to-Own Experience

by Neil Ferguson

Here’s the lowdown on APRO’s 2012 Convention and Trade Show, July 24-26 in Memphis. The RTO industry’s big event will offer many valuable experiences, including insights on how to turn your stores into “experiences”–the good kind for consumers

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III

While rent-to-own companies have not cornered the market on negative reviews posted on consumer complaint websites, it’s no surprise that there are cyberspace beefs against RTO. APRO’s general counsel reviews some of them in search of a pattern and he considers appropriate response to online complaints.
