Rent-to-own News - Northwest Rental Dealers meet September 11
September 4, 2008
On the heels of its first ever membership meeting, the year-old Northwest Rental Dealers Association is due for it's first business meeting September 11 in Spokane, Washington.
Around a dozen RTO dealers from the state of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana are expected and will discuss hiring an oversight group to monitor legislative activity across states.
"From here forward we want to get more closely involved at the state level to make sure that we're covered in all four states," said NWRDA president Joe Recla.
Community involvement also tops the association's discussion list as dealers will explore possible charity sponsorship opportunities, Recla said. One option could be sponsorship of the Special Olympics Winter Games which will be held in Boise, Idaho in 2009.
Recla's company, the six store Central Rent-To-Own, has already committed to the event, agreeing to furnish five apartments for the months leading up to the Special Olympics through the duration of the event.
The apartments will be used by athletes, family and event organizers, he said.
NWRDA could follow suit, furnishing needed apartments or providing some other form of service for the event.
"We want the group to be identified with charitable giving and getting involved in the community," Recla said.
Dues structure will also be discussed.
Formed originally as a merger between the Oregon Rental Dealers Association and the Washington Rental Dealers Association last summer, Idaho joined shortly thereafter and Montana requested membership as the fourth NWRDA state in October 2007.
