Rent-to-own News - Rent-A-Center backs Clyburn golf outing

The nation's largest rent-to-own company is backing a high profile golf tournament this weekend that provides thousands in need-based college scholarships for South Carolina students each year.

Rent-A-Center will contribute nearly a dozen product prizes from XBOX 360's to digital camcorders to James Clyburn's annual Rudolph Canzater Memorial Golf Classic August 8 -10 in Santee, South Carolina.

Each year, hundreds of elected officials, business and community leaders from around the country gather on the shores of South Carolina's 110,000 acre Lake Marion at Santee to participate in the annual tournament to rub elbows and raise money for a worthy cause.

Rep. Jim Clyburn, who will be present at the event, is the House Majority Whip and the third ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Clyburn is a rent-to-own supporter and previous co-sponsor of industry supported legislation.

Former APRO President Gary McDougal and ColorTyme President and
CEO Bob Bloom will participate in the tournament as well.

In addition, Clyburn has established an endowment at South Carolina State University and over the past 17 years, the tournament has funded over 400 scholarships and contributed over $450,000 to the James E. Clyburn Endowment at SCSU.
