May 6, 2008

Over 100 community and state leaders, guests and friends joined Rent One owners Larry and Sharon Carrico Friday May 2 to celebrate the grand opening of their recently remodeled Mt. Vernon store location.

The 21,000 square foot store is largest in the 44-store Rent One chain and was remodeled as part of the company's rebranding effort to make the store more accessible and friendly to both customers and employees.

"This is part of the ongoing Rent One saga," Carrico says. "We have been very successful in Mt. Vernon and look forward to many more years of success. I didn’t realize the revenues and payrolls which have been created by the Rent One Team here, and our commitment is due in part to how the city and surrounding areas have accepted us."

The Mt. Vernon store, Rent One's corporate headquarters and its service department -- PC Rescue -- are all located in Mt. Vernon. Combined, the three locations employ 59 with annual payrolls of almost 2 million and $1.2 million in revenues.

State Senator John O. Jones, Jefferson County Board Chairman Ted Buck and Councilwoman Mary Burgan were on hand for the event as well as Mt. Vernaon Chamber of Commerce President Curt Mowrer and executive director Floyd Brookman.

Also at the event, Mary Ellen Bechtel, executive director of the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, presented the Carrico's with an award for their continued commitment to Mt. Vernon.
