This Rent to Own Audio Podcast brought to you by APRO's RTOHQ.org

Ernie Lewallen, a 28-year rent-to-own veteran, has served as TRIB Group's president for the past two years. He also owns 10 UHR Rents stores and three custom wheel and tire rental stores.

Lewallen is a past APRO president who has been on the front lines politically since joining the association in 1982.

In this exclusive podcast, Lewallen shares some of the triumphs of TRIB Group over the past year, his thoughts on the 2009 TRIB Convention and Buying Show -- the second such show co-located with AVB-BrandSource -- and the upcoming APRO Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

The climate is right he says for the rent-to-own transaction to be given a federal definition once and for all protecting dealers, vendors, jobs and most importantly, and consumers, securing for them a much needed financing alternative to meet their needs.

"The rent to own transaction is clearly absence the presence of debt and perfectly suited to help America weather this storm," Lewallen said. "The last thing any American needs today is to get further in debt."

Who Is Your Competition?

by Bill Keese

In order to expand your customer base, you can learn a lot by observing your competitors. But first, you need to figure out just who they are. If you think your only competition is the rent-to-own store down the street, you’re not considering the bigger picture. APRO’s executive director offers a big-picture perspective.

A Review of Online Customer Complaints

by Ed Winn III
